Built in the 1880's the house was expanded in 1899 to the grand Queen Anne style. Typical of the Victorian era, the home features the original hardwood floors and restored original woodwork, including faux finishes. Antique furniture and elegant light fixtures help create a graceful atmosphere, which is completed with period wallpapers and window coverings.
A many-columned, sweeping veranda wraps and around three sides of the house, with entry to the Foyer, Front Parlor, Dining Room, Music Room and Kitchen. Up the curved stairway, complete with a stained glass window on the landing, the second floor features the Bride's and Groom's Rooms.
The Bride's Room, within the curve of the turret, features floral wallpaper, lace curtains, a chandelier, and opens onto a small balcony.
The Groom's Room sports elegant, richly colored striped wallpaper and carpeting. Period chairs provide seating, while prints and drawings accent the walls.
The Gardens at The Bishops' House include a Gazebo, an Arch from The Rose Garden, and Shade Garden along the picturesque rock wall. Additionally, the front yard exhibits traditional flower plantings, trees and shrubs, perfect for photographics and providing space for relaxing and enjoying the ambiance of this unique setting.
